At the invitation of Burson University in Myanmar, from December 28, 2019 to January 7, 2020, the Third Institute of Oceanography (hereinafter referred to as "the three oceans") of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Marine Dynamics Laboratory, Marine and Coastal Geology Office, and The 9-member scientific research team of the Marine Biology and Ecology Department went to Myanmar to carry out the "Sino-Myanmar Irrawaddy River Inshore Joint Survey Voyage" to further promote the scientific research exchanges between China and Myanmar in the field of ocean and climate change in the Indian Ocean. Daowan CTD participated in the investigation mission.

This trip to Myanmar is mainly based on near-shore investigations, with 18 people from both sides (9 from China and 9 from Myanmar). The investigation team carried out marine hydrological and meteorological surveys, coastal geological surveys, and coral reef ecosystem surveys in the waters along the Qiangda coast of Bosheng City, Irrawaddy Province. A total of 15 stations for ocean current and temperature-salt surface observation, 3 stations for continuous observation of hydrology and sea surface meteorological elements, and 1 station for continuous observation of near-shore tidal level were completed; 3 beach geomorphological surveys were completed, and the single-beam survey line of the seabed terrain was 33km. 1 station; completed 3 stations of coral reef ecological survey, obtained more than 500 photo data and 3 sample strip images. Both China and Myanmar have successfully completed the established tasks of this near-shore investigation, and have negotiated and determined the next work arrangement and future cooperation direction.

Daowan High-precision CTD (Model: DW1633F), as one of the key equipment of this marine hydrological survey, successfully obtained the temperature-salt profile data of the target sea area, performed well throughout the process, and successfully completed the survey task.

The joint voyage is limited by the survey time, the data length is short, and it cannot reflect the factors such as inshore hydrodynamics and the changing process of the coral reef ecosystem. Therefore, the two sides jointly discussed the establishment of a long-term ocean comprehensive observation station in the study area to gain a deeper understanding of the near-shore marine environment, discuss the causes of coral bleaching and protect marine ecosystems such as coral. In addition, the training of Myanmar investigators in instrument operation and scientific experiments is an important way for the project to communicate in the future, and it is also the basis for establishing a common understanding.

This pragmatic cooperation will help deepen the exchanges and cooperation in the field of marine science and technology between China and Myanmar, enhance the basic capacity of marine scientific research and the level of marine science and technology, and assist the construction of the 21st century Maritime Silk Road. Contribute power from generation to generation. After the end of the voyage, the three marine research teams visited the Chinese embassy in Myanmar and reported on the Sino-Myanmar marine scientific and technological exchanges between the three marines.
